About Medigas | Our History

Medigas has a long history in the compressed gas industry.  In 1946, Welders Supplies was founded in Winnipeg with the objective of supplying Manitoba and Western Canada with quality industrial gases, welding and cutting systems, and accessories.  With the specialization of medical gases, supplies and equipment, Welders Supplies formed and incorporated Medigas in 1976 to facilitate the new skill sets required for the medical gas industry.

In 1983, Medigas moved to its current location at 150 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Since then, Medigas has expanded its inventory and expertise to adapt and meet its client's changing needs. Originally a medical gas supplier, Medigas has grown into Manitoba’s leading supplier of respiratory gases and equipment, and a service provider of home oxygen and portable oxygen systems.  Medigas is also a leading supplier of emergency medical and resuscitation equipment to Manitoba’s Fire and Paramedic Departments and Air Ambulance Services.

Medigas still provides their clients with the newest advancements in compressed medical gases and related equipment, medical emergency products and specialty, niche products.  Medigas is proudly owned, operated and headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
